- Increasingly, hiring managers want to make sure that engineers and other technical resources can play well with others in the org. Given the highly disparate nature of modern tech work, the lone tech genius is becoming a relic of the past. Product managers are becoming increasingly technical, and work closely with engineers on engineering and product spec documents. Program or product managers have to work with engineers to scope, track, and deliver projects. Up close and functional relationships within engineering, product, and program management is critical to tactical execution and strategic planning.
