- [Narrator] One of the best aspects of the Tableau program is the selection of built-in functions and operators that let you create calculations quickly. In this movie, I will describe some of the more frequently-used operators and built-in functions that will save you time and help you gather important information about your business. To start out with the mathematical operators, which you will use when you create calculations, you have the plus sign, which you use for addition. You can also use that for dates, for example, if you want to find three days after August 2nd, 2016, you can add those two values together. And you can also use the plus sign for string concatenation. So, if you have two different fields that have, for example, the name of a city and the name of a state, you can use the plus sign to concatenate those together.
