Creating line charts and area fill charts
- [Narrator] A lot of the data that you visualize in Tableau will have a time component associated with it. For example, you might have a summary that tracks monthly or even yearly sales for your business. In this movie, I will show you how to summarize data by creating line charts, which are perfect for time series data. In a similar way, area fill charts show the share of multiple contributions in reference to another dimension, such as time. They're a variety of a line chart that you'll probably use as well. I'll show you how to create them using my sample file called line. You can find that in the chapter 10 folder of your exercise files collection. I have a blank sheet that's connected to a data source, so the first thing I need to do is add my field. I'll start by adding my order date field, so I'll go to the date panel and click order date, click its down arrow, and then click add to sheet. So there it is in the columns area.
