Layering sound for heightened impact
- Sometimes more than one layer of sound is needed to make an effect work correctly. In this movie, we'll create a composite impact sound using a few layers. Here where the gear flies in we have a whoosh sound but the outwardly moving rings imply that we might need more of a whoosh plus impact sound. Let's take a look at what I'm talking about. So this clip right here, Production Element Title Transition Whoosh Short 08 is there to emphasize the blue gear coming in but when it impacts the bike, we're kind of missing an impact sound so I'll just watch it in real time to hear what I'm talking about. (whooshing effect) Right so we have a good whoosh but it'd be really cool to also have a nice impact sound so let's make a composite effect that includes the whoosh but also will bring in a couple of impact sounds and we'll make one composite sound effect that takes care of all of our needs here.
