- [Instructor] As I noted in the last chapter, beta tests fail frequently. There are some process-based things that cause the failure, but for the most part, a lot of what causes the issues are problems in preparation for the beta phase of testing. The good news is, is that you can reduce and even eliminate a lot of these factors with proper preparation and some forethought. First, the thing that has the biggest lead time are the legal requirements for the test. Your project will require specific agreements to keep the product protected when it enters the hands of external testers. A nondisclosure agreement, participation agreement, and software license are all documents you need to keep your intellectual property from falling into the wrong hands.
