- The focus behind DevOps is implementing a methodology that allows for change to go as fast as possible. DevOps is founded on the concept of continuous delivery. This means focusing on spending time on figuring out how the customer can benefit the most while eliminating boundaries. In this model cycles are tightly aligned to help get the product into the hands of the customer whenever an update is ready to be delivered. There was a big emphasis on things like automation, integration and cloud-based structures, so that teams can take an update from development through test, into the hands of customer testers, and then release. This rapid fire approach means very short intervals of activity one after another, rather than one long development period, waterfall stipulates. DevOps is a derivative of the agile process.
