Adding receptacles
- [Instructor] Okay. Now that the underlays are all set, and we have the views looking the way we want, we can actually start modeling some stuff. In this video, I'd like to add some receptacles to a room. To get started, we'll just into Revit, in Projects we'll go Open, and I am going to browse to my electrical project, Receptacles. Of course, keep in mind, you can use any project you want to follow along. Click Open. This will bring us to a floor plan. Let's make sure that we're in Power, Floor Plan, Level 1. Remember, we go to our project browser to determine where we're at. Let's zoom in on this room right here. The first thing I've noticed is this tile. And I don't really want to see that. So, we're going to go to Visibility Graphics, we're not going to turn off floors, but we're going to turn off this hatch pattern. Type VG for Visibility Graphics. Now let's drill down to where it says Floors. I want to keep them on in case we need to have floor receptacles or some kind of items that host to a floor. Notice also you can drill in and you can turn on or off other things that you do or don't want to see. But what I want to do is go to Patterns, see where it says Override for Patterns, click on Override, uncheck Visible. I guess in the foreground and the background. Click OK. Click Apply. Click OK. Ah, that's so much better. Now, let's add some actual receptacles. Go to the Systems tab and go to Electrical. Go down to Device. Notice that we can add any kind of device that we want. I want to grab an electrical fixture. And notice that over in the Properties, we have a duplex receptacle standard. There's a GFCI and a standard. Of course, we can load any other receptacles we want. And of course we will in other videos. In this case, I want to just put it right on the wall right here. Hit "esc" a couple times. Select this receptacle. Notice that we can have a default elevation of 1 foot 6. And we come down and see that all the circuiting stuff is ready to be added, we just need to add other items. Hit "esc" a couple times. I want to add another one. A quick way to do that is we can simply right-click on this Receptacle and create similar. Notice that it will not host to anything other than a vertical face, because that's what we have selected here. And I want to keep that selected. I want to put a couple on this wall. I guess maybe a couple on this wall. We'll throw one over here. Plenty of spots to plug in, in this room. Let's hit "esc" a couple times. That deselects them. That's all I want to do for this video. Go ahead and save your model and you're all set to start wiring these up.
