Know your limits in a negotiation
- Know your limits. Know what your showstoppers are and stick to those as absolutes. Don't come in with a hard limit and then realize it's not really a limitation. You'll lose credibility if you have a showstopper and then you concede it. Well, there might be a point at which you do concede. It should not be unless and until you're absolutely satisfied with all other terms of the deal. And even then, the other side should have made major concessions to get you to move off your hard limits.
