Healthcare and pharmacies
- Workers in the healthcare industry may handle many different types of medications and work around compressed medical gases. They also work with, and around different types of chemical sanitizing agents. Many of these things can be hazardous if they're handled or stored improperly. Because of this, bulk containers of these products will often contain GHS labels, and be accompanied by safety data sheets, so you can identify hazards and precautions. Some pharmacies might also mix different types of chemicals to create compounded medications. When you do this, you're essentially operating like a chemical processing facility. And that means that you may need to follow the same rules as them for chemical process safety, which is what I'll discuss next.
