Enter milestone tasks
Identify significant events in your plan as milestones and take advantage of reporting features that showcase these events to leadership or stakeholders. You can make a milestone either by typing in zero duration or you can do this another way with a great shortcut on the Ribbon, the Milestone button. Now, lets talk about how you might use these in your plan. You might have checkpoints in your schedule, such as Phase 1 complete, Phase 2 complete, if you have gates. Great place for a milestone. I've even seen milestones in non-profit organizations. Maybe we have a Go/No Go decision. Do we have funding to continue to the next phase? Do we have approval from the community to continue to the next phase? A lot of people use milestones to represent sending that deliverable out to a client. We've delivered our prototype as an example. Something I think you should consider if you're the project manager of your plan, put a milestone in where you want to do an audit of your plan. Great idea…
