Create a template from a project

- [Instructor] You can use an exiting project as a basis for future projects by turning it into a template. Click the File tab and then choose Save As. If you see the folder in the list, click it. In the Save As dialog box, change the Save as type to Project Template. In this case, select the Template folder. In the File name box, type the template name. Click the Save button. The Save As Template dialog box appears. A new project won't use the same baseline as an existing project. So turn on the value of all baselines check box to remove baseline values. A new project initially won't have actual values. So turn on the Actual values check box to remove them. You can turn on the other check boxes to remove resource rates, fixed costs and whether tasks are published. Then click the Save button. In the Project Title bar, the file name ends in .mpt which stands for Microsoft Project Template.
