Which software does this course use?

- In the previous movie I mentioned a bit about the software requirements for this course and I want to go deeper into that now. Now this is a course on dialogue editing. You can learn the basic concepts from this course and then apply them in whatever software you choose. That said, in this training we've chosen to use Adobe Premiere Pro for a couple of reasons. Because it's dual platform so both Mac and PC users can use it and because statistically at the introductory level more people have access to Premiere Pro than other dual platform software solutions. That said, lets take a look at the structure of this course. Chapters 1 and 2 are conceptual chapters. We're gonna talk about the history, theory and plenty of examples of dialog in cinema and we will not be getting into any software in these chapters. In Chapters 3, 4 and 5 we're gonna be focusing much more on the practical elements of dialog editing and to that we're going to need to work in software to carry out the steps. With all of that said, if you're a Final Cut Pro 10 or Avid Media Composer editor I definitely encourage you to ingest the assets from this course and follow along in your respective software. If you're brand new to the software you'll probably need to combine this training with the essential training or another editing course from the software of your choice. And even though we're using Premiere we're not dealing with complicated techniques here. It really all comes down to simple cuts as we edit our various dialog scenes. So with a little familiarity with each software's main tools you'll be able to perform all tasks using the editing tools that each software provides. Okay, so hopefully it's clear that while we're attempting to be as software agnostic as possible there are sections of this course we'll be working in Premiere Pro but I welcome you to work in whatever you like and use the concepts that we discuss.
