- [Voiceover] Shot dude. - [Voiceover] Infamous. - It's pretty infamous and it looks just like this. (laughing) - [Guy In Baseball Cap] Right on dude. - [Voiceover] All right, so there will be, okay. - [Voiceover] Mike Gordon makes a cameo. - [Voiceover] Poor guy, let's fix his eyebrows, there we go. - [Voiceover] That's what I'm saying, we're gonna have to use your monitor, that's just up front. - Check, check, yo. ♫ They're too loud ♫ - [Voiceover] Seem to have lost all of our guitar stands. ♫ Ohhhh ♫ - Check, check. - [Voiceover] I would describe Shaky Feelin's music as kind of a blend of reggae, rock, funk, jazz, blues, it's kind of a hip, happy vibe that we create. (guitar riffs) (funk music) - Hey what's up, we're Shaky Feelin', I'm Mark and I play guitar and I sing. - Hey, I'm Franklin, I play keyboards. - Hey, I'm Jeff, I play the bass. - Hi, I'm Paul, I play drums and sing. - Hey, I'm Cameron and I play drums and percussion. - Probably been writing songs close to ten years, you know time's starting to fly by now. Everything started out really poppy for me, and um, as of now, songs are starting to mature, whereas that's kind of a cool thing. I kinda write the songs myself, and I bring them to these guys and they kind of make the songs mature, bring their own flavors into the mix. I definitely want everyone's personality to be brought out that's definitely very important to me. - Well, Mark's always bringing something to the table, so uh, it's really fun. He brings in a song and then everyone has an idea on uh, what to do, and each little part like the transition from a chorus or bridge and somebody's always got something, and we always just try and work it together as a team. Which has actually worked out pretty well, because everyone has their part and they love it, and the music comes together and you got this huge ball of energy that people love to dance to. Not only is it fun, I consider it also as a like a business endeavor. Gotta work on these things, cause people love it. - This is our product. - Yeah, this is our, yeah it's like our brand, ha ha! (funk music) - We're very fortunate to have had the good bar days. We played there once a month, I played there once a week, and we had to play four sets. 9:30 to 1:30, and I think that's like, kind of like The Beatles, when they had to play in Germany before they got famous. That was kind of like our Germany. The Good Bar, where we were forced to play for four hours, and we got really good doing it. As a band we learned how to play music, and perform, and solo and jam, we learned how to improvise. Everything grew. And then the Good Bar closed, and everything's took it's course, now we're playing bigger stages like we always wanted and things are happening. - [Voiceover] Please welcome to the stage ladies and gentlemen, Shaky Feelin'! (reggae music) ♫ I hate when raindrops ♫ In summer, comin' over here and thinking ♫ They can take over my town ♫ I think ♫ I should ♫ Run away from the rain that's bringing me down ♫ I hate ♫ - They both can be a lot, a lot of fun. Obviously there's pros and cons to both. Festivals are nice because everyone's kind of on that same page, you just go at your leisure. Then at a venue, you gotta be here at this point, you gotta be here at this point, we're doing sound-check, make sure you're there and ready to go. And then you wait, and then you wait to play, so. - Well festivals are kind of a privilege, because the audience is built in. So if you're playing a festival, and there's already three thousand people already coming to the festival, then that's that privilege, you're very lucky to be playing that festival, built in audience, you're getting exposure which is very crucial. As far as putting on your own show, Jeff, how would you think putting on your own concert is a little tougher? - It's tough, there's just a lot of moving parts. You gotta be willing to invest, you know? Put your money on the line, but it's rewarding. The most recent show we did at the Crest, I think we'd call a success on many levels. Trying to pull off a big theatre show on our own, and I think you know, you have to just, what's the vision? And see it, and then take the most positive approach to that that you can, and if you think it, you can make it happen. And if we all collectively think it and see it, we can make this happen. The only thing in the way of it is us. (high-energy rock music) - Us drumming for so long, we kind of knew the ins and outs of what we kinda were gonna be. - We did kind of hammer away. - Yeah! - At first we did, we just hammered away. - Basically we just hammered away. And then, as we're progressing, I'm kinda more the one that's driving the bus, and there's Cameron right there even with me. - I wait for them to kind of come up with a song, and then I just kind of listen to what it was, or spacers, or something that would you know, accent what he's doing. And I just kind of, like he says, I just kind of go off of what he's doing, and just kind of fill in some space. - I never know Cameron was, that there was gonna be two drum sets in the band. So you know, I thought Cameron was gonna be on the percussion side. He said, hey I'm no percussion player dude. So I don't know, I was like, cool I'm gonna go to the bathroom, I'll be back in a couple minutes. And I go out and he's already setting up two drum sets. The rest is history. Cameron definitely, Paul's driving the bus, Cameron's adding the flavor. And that's pretty much what it is. You can call it Grateful Dead, you can call it Allman Brothers, but I think it's pretty original, it's what we do. - Hey man, Doobie Brothers, that too. - Yeah! - Well Cameron, Cameron adds the toys, the cool sounds that Paul just doesn't have another arm for, you know? You know, when we're doing Latin, you know if you listen to Latin music, they've got like three percussion players. Just more hands, it really drives the sound. A good band is always going to start with a good drummer. We really feel very lucky. (reggae music) - Any band who thinks that a manager is going to take them to the promised land, you've gotta do it yourselves, you gotta work. You gotta work hard and do it yourselves. - It's a lot of text. - And then once you're ready, then you're ready. For a booking agent, for a manager. - There's gotta be some critical mass before someone we'd want to represent us at this point would be representing us really. We gotta do that on our own, and I think we can get up to that point, where you know, then we're appealing for someone who, who's not just trying to get their start in that business. I think Shaky Feelin' has worked itself beyond that. (high-energy rock music) - It hasn't been an easy road, really. To get us the gigs, you know, you have to keep hammering at it every day. And then of course we've got five personalities in the band, you know. And like, that's- - Schedules. - Yeah, schedules, you know. And to try and bring that all together, and being together for I guess, now like four or five years together, we've accomplished a lot in that. - Hard work, good attitude, and have passion, have good influences, good songwriting. - Perseverance. That much. - Nailed it. - It's basically a dream that we're not willing to let go of just yet. (funky guitar riff) Two, one, two.
