- Running your first hybrid environment can feel like whiplash, frantically trying to go back and forth, from online to in-person, and back again, that you lose focus of why you're even meeting in the first place. But that's the key here, staying focused and engaged. So to get people focused and engaged, I love to simply have someone from the in-person participants read the goal or objective for the meeting. Having someone else say it not only changes up the voice when you get started, but it gets more team buy-in to the reason you all are meeting. This is also a good way to check microphones. Turn to ask the online participants if they all heard the goal clearly before you begin. You are the one that will make the session a success, so don't be afraid to kindly ask all participants, both in person and online, to sit next to a microphone so that everyone can hear the good ideas.
