- We've talked about a lot of tactics, strategies, and techniques, but it's just as important to be strategic in determining whether you should in fact speak up. Here are some questions to consider. How important is this issue to me? How impactful is this issue for the organization? What is my relationship with this person or group? Is this a one-off issue or has there been a pattern? Has this issue been raised previously? How much information is available on this issue? Are there others who might share my concern? Will I have support if I speak up? What is my likelihood of making a difference if I raise this issue? What will likely happen if I speak up and what will likely happen if I don't speak up? Also consider your personal style. Personally, I prefer being more direct and I have a higher tolerance for conflict so I don't mind raising an issue directly or publicly even when I know I may not have group support. Your…
