- Now, let's just address the elephant in the room. What about repercussions, retaliation, possible unemployment? Those are indeed very valid concerns. You should certainly weigh as you decide if and how to speak up. But I strongly encourage you to resist that temptation to use that fear as your permanent excuse for looking the other way and doing nothing. At the end of the day I think this is a very personal decision. After all, hey, I'm not paying your bills. I don't know your team and I won't be sitting in the room with you. So I don't want to tell you what to do but I will share some food for thought. It's easy to fall into the trap of letting negative fantasies about what could go wrong completely overshadow the current reality of what is going wrong right now.
