- [Instructor] Domains are purchased from a domain registrar, which is an organization that manages the reservation of domain names. If you don't know what registrar to go with, you can do a web search. Let's look for domain registrar. This will bring up results for different service providers, as well as review articles, which can help you decide. Here's a review article right here and here's also a domain registrar. Google Domains are an example of a service that only does domain registration. Hover is another example of a service that only does domain registration, but there are hosting companies like Blue Host and Dream Host which offer hosting and domains. If your registration expires, your domain name will go back into the pool and someone else can register it, but most registrars will send you expiry reminders or allow you to auto-renew to avoid losing your domain name.
