- [Instructor] In this video, we'll be looking at two different scenarios. Each scenario will require a hypothesis test on sample means versus an expected outcome. In one we'll investigate whether a certain herbal supplement is actually reducing the recovery time for people that have the common cold. In another scenario we'll investigate whether a company is putting enough dog food in the bags they're selling to their customers. In both cases, we'll be given sample data, and also, in both cases you'll be provided an expected outcome. For the supplement, an expected recovery time for patients, for the dog food, an expected amount of dog food in each bag. We will of course use Excel to perform these hypothesis tests. But before we head over to Excel, let me provide you some helpful formulas. Here's the formula for our Z-statistic.
