- [Instructor] Industrial control systems are comprised of several elements that are used in automation and control processes. In this segment, we'll discuss some of the components. An ethical hacking exercise on an industrial control system is different than testing in an IT environment. So that you understand the complexity of what you might need to test, I'll briefly describe some of the elements that you might find during testing. First, let's talk about SCADA systems. SCADA or supervisory control and data acquisition is a centralized system that monitors and controls processes and machinery used in industrial settings. SCADA has multiple applications and runs behind the scenes in a variety of locations such as production systems, refineries, and supermarkets.
