From the course: Equity Framework: A Guide for Managers and Leaders

Getting to know the MAPP framework

- As we dive into organizational equity, I'm going to share a powerful tool I've created to guide you, the MAPP Framework. Think of it as your strategic compass throughout the course, helping us navigate through organizational inequities and create targeted solutions. We'll break down MAPP into its essential components, Metrics, Accountability, and Proactive Participation, giving you practical insights to spot and address trends of inequity within your workplace. The first pillar, Metrics, takes us beyond surface-level observations. We'll dive into data-driven insights, exploring key metrics to unveil hidden trends and patterns within your organization. As we navigate the metrics component, we'll explore questions like, are promotions distributed evenly across diverse groups? Is there an unbiased evaluation of performance? Answering these questions gives us a comprehensive view of the landscape so we can identify trends that may perpetuate inequities. Metrics provide the clarity needed to develop targeted strategies that address specific challenges and ensures fairness for all. Now shifting our focus to the second pillar, Accountability, this isn't about assigning blame. It's about fostering a culture of responsibility. Who is accountable for addressing inequities, and what actions can be taken to rectify them? Acknowledging accountability ensures that individuals and teams across all levels actively engage in creating a workplace that champions equity. Finally, we arrive at Proactive Participation, The third pillar of MAPP. This isn't a passive journey. It's about involving all stakeholders in the quest for equity. Waiting for issues to surface is a thing of the past. We'll explore ways to create an environment where open dialogue flourishes, and everyone's voice is not only heard, but intentionally shapes the culture. By understanding how to leverage the MAPP Framework, you'll be equipped to spot trends of inequity and address them. This isn't just an acronym, it's a practical strategic roadmap for fostering a workplace where equity is a lived reality.
