- Since you're taking a LinkedIn learning course, I'm going to guess that you love learning. Most people have a strong desire to learn and grow. But here's the thing. Some of my work on diversity, inclusion, and belonging in the environmental sector shows that people of color often receive fewer development opportunities and that can cause them to leave their company. This means that organizations should try to have practices that ensure development is equally distributed to reduce turnover. Reducing turnover is actually a much more cost-efficient strategy than selection if you consider that losing one employee can cost as much as two times their annual salary. And if you lose an underrepresented employee you wasted all that money in creating a more effective recruitment and selection practice.
