- Let's take a look at the rest of the agile principles. Next one on the list is: Working software is the primary measure of progress. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. The best way to show progress is to incrementally deliver functional software to the customer early and often. Agile teams measure progress by delivering increments of products that provide some business value. The next principle is perhaps the easiest to understand, but is also the most commonly violated. It states: Agile processes promote sustainable development. Everyone involved in an agile project must be able to maintain a sustainable pace. What is sustainable pace? It varies by location, nature of the job, culture, and many other factors, but the key question to ask is, can a dedicated team sustain pace for a long period and stay productive?
