- [Instructor] When working with any technology or framework, we tend to focus on the knowledge areas that are required for our daily job. A certification forces you to study and explore other areas of knowledge that you may not be familiar with. This is applicable to Scrum as well. Most experienced Scrum practitioners do not consider a certification a requirement for a Scrum-related job, but in case of two equally qualified candidate for a job position, a certification can be the tiebreaker. Also, many organizations, like government agencies, list Scrum certification as a mandatory job requirement. There are two major Scrum certifications: Certified Scrum Master, or CSM, from scrumalliance.org, and Professional Scrum Master, or PSM, from scrum.org.
