- [Instructor] As a project management professional, you know that the traditional project management role includes the concept of engaging an executive sponsor. This is also present in our agile methodology. Too often, the concept of the executive sponsor conjures up a vision of a disconnected executive whose real role is to secure funding at the beginning of the project. And then take a victory lap when the project has been delivered. That should not be reality. Let's take a look at some of the key responsibilities of the executive sponsor. Paying particular attention to the uniqueness of the agile project management methodology. The executive sponsor should help build common ground and consensus. What this means is that the executive sponsor has to take in diverse and often competing with the stakeholders.
