GovLoop is now accepting new applications for its Featured Contributor program — an opportunity for current and former government employees and industry representatives to write on topics about which they’re passionate. It’s a chance to share your knowledge with — and be recognized by — GovLoop’s community of 300,000+ public sector employees, industry partners, and knowledge experts. Specifically, we are looking for between 12 and 15 writers, who will each submit an approximately 500-word blog post every two weeks during the second half of 2024 (12 posts total). FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Paul Donsky (404) 202-4662 [email protected]   Clayton Businesses Able to Apply for Incumbent Worker Training Program Eligible employers could receive up to $25,000 per year to offer tailored training solutions [Atlanta, GA – August 14, 2024] – The Atlanta Regional Workforce Development Board (ARWDB) is seeking applications from Clayton County businesses to participate in the Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) program, a dynamic initiative aimed at fortifying the skills of the region’s workforce and bolstering the competitive edge of local businesses. The federally funded IWT program is available to business with five or more employees operating for at least a year in the seven-county ARWDB area, which includes Cherokee, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale counties. The program provides a maximum of $25,000 per employer and $7,000 per participant each year to provide tailored training solutions. Employers are required to contribute 50% of the total training costs. “This kind of training program is critical in an era where adaptability and continuous learning are paramount,” said Rob LeBeau, Managing Director of Workforce Solutions at the Atlanta Regional Commission, which administers the ARWDB. “We’ve had great success in the past working with businesses across the region to help enhance their workforce and secure their business’s future.” Applications for IWT funding and now being accepted, and awards will be granted on a competitive basis.  The program is highly collaborative. Training programs are tailored to meet the needs of each participating business and may include a mix of classroom and hands-on lessons. On November 19, 2024, the DoD SkillBridge Employer Partner Roundtable brought together key stakeholders to discuss ways to enhance the program, ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of transitioning service members and the employers who benefit from their skills. 𝟭. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 The roundtable introduced updates to the SkillBridge program, including new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) requirements and implementation timelines. These changes aim to streamline processes and improve the program's effectiveness. 𝟮. 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱-𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 Third-party providers have become instrumental in assisting industry partners to manage responsibilities and ensure service members are placed in positions that align with their goals. Their involvement is crucial for the program's success. 𝟯. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 The Military-Civilian Transition Office (MCTO) is actively enhancing communication processes with authorized SkillBridge providers to ensure timely updates and address any concerns. This effort aims to bridge any existing communication gaps. This is a great tool to use when you are getting started with your transition out of the Military!! Stay PROACTIVE rather than reactive throughout your transition or you may find yourself behind the power curve. Wish I knew about this during my transition!
