Your executive peers are resistant to change. How can you effectively address their resistance?
Most of my experience says the root of the resistance is a lack of clarity in the vision and personal risk/reward analysis - so the best way is to remove the resistance is to clarify the vision by walking through with the others to listen for their concerns and perceptions of risk. Spend however much time you need to get it all out on the table. Go back to the vision and remap with more detail where possible to reduce the risks for each person resisting.

You're dealing with a micromanaging senior executive. How can you effectively manage their direct reports?
Having directly experienced this situation more than once and successfully found a way through the mess, I observe the following: Micromanagers sometimes mean well for the subordinates but don’t have longevity and predictability in the relationship, so he or she is staying tightly engaged. In this situation, most of the other advice on this thread will work. On the other hand, sometimes the micromanager is working from ego, arrogance, and the Dunning-Krueger Effect is in play (they think they know things that they don’t actually know). This is a much more difficult situation to navigate but requires much greater patience and an ability to teach and plant ideas as seeds or questions. Over a long period, the micromanager can be managed.

You're navigating new and existing IT vendor relationships. How can you strike the right balance?
The key is for you to know what you want and, most importantly, to know what the successful completion of the effort (requiring one or more partners) would generate in new (additive) value. Too many times we find ourselves talking to vendors before we have clarity on the value expectation and we find ourselves buying a solution that doesn’t fit the need or working with a partner that couldn’t possibly understand or anticipate our need. A clear vision and value statement is critical to success from the beginning. Business Case Rules!

You're facing a major organizational change. How can you ensure your executive team is effectively informed?
I would use the Lippet-Knoster framework for change leadership and discuss the vision captured in #1 along with the Lateral Thinking six hats to look through several lenses at the change and the possible outcomes. If the impending change is transformative, I would add in the sense-making framework from Dave Snowden (Cynefin) to ensure that the executives understand that the team will encounter unknowns along the way and have a set of protocols for evaluating and deciding the next step along the path (note: this is best done before the launch rather than at the discovery!).
