As business leaders rapidly embrace generative AI, early adopters are falling into three categories.  In this episode of Top of Mind, Distinguished VP Analyst Mary Mesaglio discusses the profiles of these early-adopters: those who embrace the new, those who shrug off ambiguity and those who love to experiment.

It’s easier to see the breadth of a trend in the market than the depth, but it’s the deep trends that leave markets permanently transformed. 📈 Look at cloud sales partnerships. Every year, more & more B2B transactions happen through #cosell and cloud marketplaces. The lower friction and extra reach of the marketplaces are driving 70% YoY growth- we’re pacing for $45B in partner sales across the major cloud providers this year. A big portion of that growth is driven by broader adoption. ⏩ More companies are #listing their products and closing their first deals through the marketplace, and more companies are investing in tools like WorkSpan that list on marketplaces, #cosell and embed marketplace transactability into their CRMs to drive seller participation. That’s the "breadth" of the marketplace trend. ⏬ But we’ve also reached a point of maturity where growth is being driven by the "depth" of cloud marketplace adoption. Sophisticated cloud partners aren’t just using marketplace transactions to rescue stalled deals with pre-committed cloud budgets as a one off, they’re making the lower friction of cloud marketplaces a core part of their sales strategy & customer lifecycle. They’re creating dedicated partner overlay teams to drive effective co-selling motions at a global scale. They’re co-selling multiparty, services + software deals and closing them on the marketplace. They’re baking co-sell automation into their freemium / PLG product flows to automatically offer one-click upsell contracts through cloud marketplaces. A temporary surplus in cloud budgets might drive a market trend and a broad rush to participate in cloud marketplaces. But cloud marketplaces have unlocked much deeper ways to partner and powerful new ways of co-selling. ⚡ B2B selling now has Cloud GTM as a permanent pillar and it is never going to be the same!

At #HPImagine, I had a fantastic conversation with Carolina Milanesi, from Heart of Tech, discussing the latest findings from our #HPWorkRelationshipIndex. What we’re seeing is workers are increasingly upfront about their need for #communication & #empathy at work. 90% of business leaders understand the positive impact of empathy but ONLY 28% of knowledge workers say senior leadership is actually demonstrating empathy… This shows a clear gap in what leadership understands to be working… and the skills they need to act on it. Interestingly enough, more than half of women business leaders say they feel confident in these skills while male business leaders hover below 40%. Personalization in #tech and personalization in #leadership are the key unlock for driving productivity and fulfillment in work. CIOs have had it tough for the last decade. Ever increasing pressure to cut costs while technology continued to leapfrog put them in difficult spot. Squeezing run costs to try and keep up with upgrades and piling technological debt has been a fine and difficult balance to say the least. Finally with the latest breakthroughs in AI, it is feasible to tame Run costs radically beyond the traditional outsourced managed services levers. But it will require companies to adopt AI as integral part of their workforce, not just another tool for more automation. Are CIOs ready for it? And are we, the entire IT service provider industry braced for the disruption and crash in demand for traditional IT resources if our clients take such a leap of faith. When 6th graders can write entire applications using Java, Python, and cloud stacks all via AI tools using simple English prompts, programmer demand is set to plummet. With platforms building in GenAI based configuration, demand for functional consultants should decline. Is it going to be all about envisioning and prompt engineering?

The entire customer service and contact center market is undergoing dramatic change - call centers staffed by humans are going to disappear much faster than anyone anticipated and be replaced by Intelligent Agents leveraging rich data platforms like Oracle Fusion.
