On May 21st, in an effort to support the credit union industry of New England we're going to be running a multi-credit union homebuying seminar. We currently have over 10 different credit unions signed up to work in promoting this event, but we want to grow this event to include as many credit unions as possible! Our goal is to support our small-medium sized credit unions in their efforts in providing financial and real estate education to their members. Our presentation is going to be credit union centric and focus on the different roles within a real estate transaction, the procedure of buying a house, the requirements of obtaining a mortgage and different tips/tricks that we’re seeing work in this highly competitive real estate market. You will be provided a list and contact information of every member who attends. Yesterday was International Credit Union Day and even though we're one day late, we wanted to be sure to recognize and thank the credit unions in Massachusetts that participate in the Massachusetts IOLTA Committee's Leadership Institutions program, including All One Credit Union, Central One Federal Credit Union, Freedom Credit Union, MA, Greylock Federal Credit Union, Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union, Naveo Credit Union, The Polish National Credit Union, Quincy Credit Union, RiverWorks Credit Union, SCU Credit Union, St. Jean's Credit Union, and St. Mary's Credit Union. Leadership Institutions offer higher interest rates for IOLTA accounts, which helps the Massachusetts IOLTA Committee increase access to critically needed legal assistance. For many low-income families, having access to an attorney when they need it most is a lifeline that protects their health, safety, housing, and family. 🌟Happy to be in New Hampshire at Cooperative Credit Union Association’s Fintech Connect Event. It’s always great to chat with credit unions who are thinking proactively about embracing and leveraging technology. Yesterday’s preconference included an awesome panel on Financial Empowerment led by Melissa Pomeroy engaging with Rhian Horgan from Silvur, Shreenath R. from Starlight and Crissi Cole from Penny Finance. It was very cool to hear the perspectives across the seasons of life (Gen Z —> retirement). One of the key points driven home by Crissi is that financial empowerment does not equate to financial education…but the confidence, power, and choice/freedom to make the right decisions. It’s exciting to see that credit unions have all these opportunities to empower their members - definitely check out what these companies are up to!
