Positive Drive Continously Varying Transamission

• This project involves the design, simulation and analysis of a positive drive CVT.
• The aim is to retain the practicality, fuel efficiency and power delivery of a CVT and apply this for high torque applications like say in trucks, semis, etc.
• This is a new model which was developed to induce a positive drive to the CVT for power transmission.
• The geometric model is done on CATIA V5R20. The subsequent analysis would be done on ANSYS for stresses.

• This is a new model which was developed to induce a positive drive to the CVT for power transmission.
• The geometric model is done on CATIA V5R20. The subsequent analysis would be done on ANSYS for stresses.
• There two sections of the transmission; one the driver and the other is the driven. The contraptions on both the sides are identical.
• A pneumatic tube which can expand and contract is enclosed by a circular casing which accordingly expands and contracts with the tube. Its size altered for achieving the desired speed ratio.
• A steel belt is used for transmission of power. On engagement with a wedge present on the casing, positive drive is induced and power is transmitted.
• The project is currently being done under IEEE NITK.
