Quick tip for folks using Marketo Measure with Drift. Marketo Measure integrates directly with Drift, and will create a touchpoint through the javascript, when a person's email address is submitted through the Drift bot. But, therein lies a very common challenge. A lot of Drift playbooks look to see if we recognize the person and then, if we recognize them, we don't ask for their email address again. When that happens the integration doesn't get a chance to fire the Marketo Measure javascript. A simple solution for this is to add to your playbooks, "In case the chat gets disconnected, can you please confirm your email address?" Most users won't feel that this is intrusive. So, it should have a minimal impact on completions. And, it'll have a massive impact on the performance of your Marketo Measure javascript.

Multiple Shopify stores had a rough Monday-Wednesday this week. After spending thousands $$$'s in team resources, we found out the issue... Crowdstrike patches impacted browsers + Cloudfare (Shopify's distribution network). Users had latency issues and difficulty with checkout. Was I frustrated? Yes. Lose sleep? Yes. Take it out on my team? Yes. Their fault? Yes. My fault? Yes. No one's fault? Yes. The fact is, even when these things happen (and they do happen in the world of digital), it may not be our FAULT, but it is our responsibility. There's always a way we can improve. Processes, communication, management (patience), all get sharpened when there's a "fantom" issue. Doesn't mean they won't happen again, but how we can recognize the pattern faster. A funny thing about entity SEO - my wife (Alex Schnee) shows up in AI search results as an 'outdoor adventure travel blogger and journalist,' while I apparently get mixed up with a conservative political commentator who hosts a podcast! 😅 A few years ago, I received a DM from Ann Coulter about appearing on a political show (wrong Daniel Horowitz!). While flattering (at least for the other Daniel Horowitz), it highlighted something important about digital identity. As someone named Daniel Horowitz - basically the Jewish equivalent of 'Bob Smith' (there were so many of us at my childhood dentist that we needed middle names!) - I've learned the hard way about the importance of building a distinct digital entity. In SEO, we often talk about E-E-A-T, but entity optimization is becoming crucial in AI-driven search. It's about creating a clear, verifiable digital footprint that distinguishes you from others - even those sharing your name. Speaking of making yourself heard and known - it's Election Day! Whether you're the only person with your name or one of many, your unique voice matters. Since the August Core Update 2024 has started rolling out, HouseFresh.com has been at the forefront of post-HCU recovery. Here’s what I’ve noted: 📈 Significant Rankings Increase: Their rankings have ascended in this update like no other site I’ve encountered. 🔍 Strategic SEO Efforts: Post-HCU, they’ve made substantial progress—elevating their DA from 43 to 58, refining on-page SEO, and enhancing UX. 🏅 Enhanced EEAT: Their Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (EEAT) have notably strengthened. Interestingly, despite similar efforts, many other sites haven't experienced the same positive trend. 💼Possibly Manual Influence: To me, this recovery for HouseFresh.com appears more manual than algorithmic at this stage, especially given the influential article they published on Google’s HCU. A lot of SEOs (myself included) are saying “I knew it” right now! A few of the big takeaways from my POV: ❗ Google PageRank is alive and well. Why do we care? This means Google has some sort of domain authority factor, which also means that as I’ve been saying - links are still significant, even though Google often says and implies otherwise. ❗ Click data and user engagement are ranking factors. The documentation reveals that Google uses a variety of measurements, including those named badClicks, goodClicks, lastLongestClicks and unsquashedClicks. This should not be a big surprise, but if you want to rank well, you need to create great content and great user experiences that engage your audience. ❗ Google uses Chrome user data for rankings in some form. Even though Google has always said or implied they don't do this, the documentation reveals that the desire for more clickstream data was actually a key motivation for the creation of the Chrome browser back in 2008.  Thanks for the solid write up linked here Michael King and to Rand Fishkin for the jumpstart on exposing the documentation. I’m looking forward to more insights that’ll inevitably unfold from this leak.

You don't absolutely need 45-60 minutes of someone's time to get good information. If SME and customer availability is what's holding you back from conducting in-depth interviews, why not use remote capture tools to drip the questions out so your interviewee can answer on their own time?

Well, well, well. The HubSpot Forms Developers were certainly busy over Thanksgiving vacation. Soooo many Forms updates rolled out live on Monday. ➡️Multi-Step Forms (whooo hoo),  ➡️Global Forms Styling & Layout Customization (YAY - it better work),  ➡️Progress Bar in the new Forms tool (YEEEEEES),  ➡️Associate Campaigns to Forms in the new Forms tool (only if your forms are campaign-specific, we use multi-purpose forms),  ➡️Embedding Forms in the CMS (didn't we already have this, so confused?). Honestly, take another look at your integrations of TypeForm and Gravity Forms on your website. Maybe it is time for a forms rip-out. These are a few of our favorite things. 😈 P.S. I like to do corny graphics. So shoot me.
