You're facing skill gaps in adopting new robotics technologies. How can you bridge them effectively?
We, Kaufman Engineered Systems, have invested in a fully animated training video package for our customers. It's a great solution for existing employees to bridge the gap going from hard automation to robotics. However, it's equally a great solution for on-boarding new employees. Typically you train and then people forget. This is a great reference to review until concept is fully grasped

You're faced with multiple urgent calls at once. How do you manage conflicting priorities effectively?
In my experience, I grade each call A, B, C. It seems second nature, but it's effective. I will then take the call that fits my technical background the best, while assigning another priority ,A-call, to one of my team members. At the end of the day, although overwhelming at first, you'll find you can handle multiple urgent items and responding back within 24hrs is doable.

You're stuck between engineering and marketing teams in product ideation. How do you find common ground?
An example between sales and engineering. Sales was bidding on a tough robotic case packing application. We knew the project was going to consume a lot of engineering man power and typically would not go after this type of project. However, there were (14) production lines involved, so the pay off was large. I felt it was paramount that we communicated with engineering on the "why" we would try to design/sell such a complicated project. Having an intimate conversation with engineering gave them them insight into why we were pursuing. We then allowed engineering to weigh in up front. This gave them buy-in on the project. Weigh in always proceeds buy in.

You've just returned from a big industry conference. How do you decide which follow-up calls to make first?
Regardless of show or lead, the process for me is always the same: 1. Name of manufacture 2. How many plant locations? 3. How many production lines need the same equipment? 4. How many shifts do they run? 5. How much money do they have? How are they calculating their ROI? 6. Have we worked with the company in the past —-where Does our current relationship stand? 7. Do they have any current robots within their production. 8. Can project be repeated with other customers
