First time trying something like this❗But come with me on this journey to become exceptionally proficient in the Cloud. We start today ❗ Decided I wanted to venture into the cloud a little more for my next sprint at this ever-continuous IT learning journey. I figured I would start with what I know. Which is Networking. So here we are with Microsoft Azure Network Solutions. I found a solid resource to fully refresh a lot of Azure Networking topics that I may have forgotten or picked up along my process. This course has brought a lot of topics together so far. OHHH TODAY IS NOT MY DAY I took the KCSA exam today and failed on my first attempt, exactly one week after passing the KCNA exam with the highest mark of 92. I took KCSA and fall For the KCNA, I didn't do any specific reading but went through all the questions on KodeKloud, which has more than 500 questions, and completed 180 questions on Udemy. I also watched a lot of videos within a week and took the exam. The questions seemed simple, plus I have hands-on experience, which helped me pass with the highest mark. For the KCSA, there was no KodeKloud content or YouTube videos available. I relied only on @Udemy questions, which were very easy, scoring 98 and 95 on my first attempts. I suspected the real exam wouldn't be as easy, so I reached out to a friend. He advised me that to pass the KCSA, I needed to study CKS from the beginning, look at documentation with cheat sheets, and familiarize myself with cybersecurity terms like STRIDE, MITRE ATT&CK®, NIST, HIPPA, ISO, etc which i refused to do. During the exam, I realized by the fourth question that I would fail because I flagged the first three questions. Flagging didn't help I flagged almost half of the questions. I couldn't remember even the daily tasks like security context numbers, AppArmor, and admission controllers. The questions weren't tough, but you need to know the terms and definitions, and understand Kubernetes security and cloud-native security thoroughly. To pass the KCSA, I must know the terms and their definitions, understand the specifics of HIPPA, PCI DSS, STRIDE, ISO, and so on. I should also go through the CKS theory, study everything comprehensively, and not rush to take the exam within two or three weeks just to become a kubestronaut. I don't care about the title for now, but I will discuss it with some colleagues again. Lastly, do not use any dumps. They won't help you succeed.

So far, it's been a learning process with MSSA. Excited to obtain more certifications. AZ-900 and AZ-104 are next on the list. #certifications #professionaldevelopment

A mentor and good friend of mine asked a question recently and it got me thinking about the importance of considering all paths to achieving a goal. I have 18+ years of honorable service in the military. A Doctoral degree and a few high level industry certifications. Every achievement I did because I wanted to. Don’t get me wrong sometimes the path was hard but I learned to finding purpose and meaning along the way. And after all that my assessment is… 1. you can start working goals without a degree, certification, or even experience. One path may be harder than the other but that doesn’t mean that anyone is better than the other. 2. Find a goal that you think will be interesting to achieve and work towards it. If after a while you find that it’s not what you thought then pivot to something that you find more interesting and enjoyable.

Earning the CompTIA CySa+ certification was one of the biggest accomplishments of my profession and taught me a couple of things about cultivating a growth mindset. Viewing any obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow rather than feeling defeated is one of the essential characteristics of developing a growth mindset. However, to develop a growth mindset is to embrace a certain level of discomfort, taking challenges in a state of readiness to learn from the process and focus on improvement. This meant that, by viewing my struggles as a way to grow, I became not only more resilient to the challenges ahead but also more adept at finding creative ways to overcome them. Secondly, a growth mindset requires one to be open to receiving feedback and learning from one’s mistakes by viewing them as learning points. Therefore, throughout the process of preparing for the certification, I found myself reaching out to many of my peers and mentors, discussing challenging topics, and sharing my knowledge, but also asking for feedback, which I’d then analyze and use to improve my approach. I found that the iterative process of understanding what went wrong and refining my process was often more rewarding than getting questions right on the very first attempt. Last but not least, the certification journey taught me that, if you want to become good at something, you must be dedicated. Research has shown that setting clear goals and creating a plan for yourself about what you need to achieve and how often are major success factors. Looking for a job in the current job market is a tiresome process and requires an ability to network and stand out among your peers. I’m a Navy veteran who served over 6 years as an Information Systems Technician with relevant experience to Information Technology, Systems Administration and Help Desk. As a proud Navy Vet I learned and developed my skills and knowledge which helped accelerate my career and give me advancement opportunities. I'd like to share 3 things that I’ve learned from being in the military that will stay with me for the rest of my life: 1. Adaptability. Being able to transform in the face of a changing environment or be able to perform under stress is a skill I learned from real world experience. From the times I had to be able to adapt when the ship needed to get underway last minute or when equipment wasn’t working, there was stress because of time and needing support a mission. 2. Leadership: When facing the challenges I worked with I stepped up into roles of responsibility and became the face of the IT departments for the commands I worked for. At both commands I served at I started with a team who knew everything, then from downsizing and me being the one who took responsibility. I learned to be able to speak to audiences who were not familiar with IT terminology and put it in a way my audience could understand. 3. Technical skills: Operating in a technical environment with many different pieces of communications devices, networks and a mission at hand I needed to be aware of how my operation worked. Being aware of every single thing I owned was critical so I could focus my sight on what needed to be fixed, worked on, or what needed maintenance to be performed. Ownership of what was my responsibility was key to the success of the organization and a value instilled in me by my peers and mentors. I'm ready for new job opportunities and willing to create value for mission focused teams who take pride in their work.

I passed Core 2 of the A+ exam today! This exam is for the CompTIA A+ certification, which is an industry-standard organization. It would be hard for me to start a career in IT and be taken seriously in the field without this certification. This exam is meant for IT *professionals* with 12 months of IT *experience*, but I passed it as an IT *student* with barely 2 months of IT *knowledge*. It's estimated that 70% of test-takers fail this test for the first time, so I'm really happy that I passed the first time around and even though I've studied for only a month. Some people spend multiple months or an entire year to prepare for this exam only to end up failing. But I can't let this accomplishment cause me to be overconfident. I have to stay humble, work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty. After all, I still have to take Core 1 of the A+ exam to be fully certified! #WGU #Cybersecurity #IT

On Friday I passed Security+, On Sunday I configured an enterprise level network in my livingroom to put what I learned into practice. NGFW, Cloud Controller, Vpn Router, Managed Switch, Ap. I have a list of projects I will be tackling one by one, and plan to post about my experiences here.
