A new issuer of home equity RMBS may be coming. Freddie Mac will securitize closed-end second lien loans if its regulator approves its proposal to buy these mortgages. But the securitization industry is not happy that the housing finance GSE is making this push into an area. Scoop: In the era of higher interest rates, this strategy will likely become more popular: GTCR LLC is raising its debut fund to provide non-control, structured equity investments to middle market companies. Structured equity will likely get more exposure over the next few years. #Privateequity GPs who acquired companies using cheap debt prior to 2022 will be facing more expensive refinancing options as the debt comes due. Today's headline from ABL Advisor Daily eNewsletter: Ares Management Closes $34B for U.S. Senior Direct Lending Strategy Ares Management Corporation announced the final closing of Ares Senior Direct Lending Fund III. With total equity commitments of approximately $15.3 billion, SDL III was oversubscribed relative to its initial target of $10.0 billion. The total capital base for SDL III is expected to be approximately $33.6 billion, which includes equity commitments in related vehicles and anticipated leverage. The Fund is nearly double the size of SDL II, its 2021 predecessor fund, which had $14.9 billion in total debt and equity commitments. Approximately $6.4 billion in debt and equity commitments for SDL III were raised during the second quarter of 2024 alone. Jamie Dimon is not happy with investment bankers in training who quietly accept future-dated jobs with buyout firms. Kaja Whitehouse reports: During the Q&A section of a talk at Georgetown University, Dimon called the practice "unethical" and said he may "eliminate" it at JPMorgan, one of Wall Street's biggest and most influential banks.
