  • Assemble the Social Web with zembly

    Prentice Hall

With zembly you can create mashups and web applications drawing on content from virtually any web site, API call, or data stream. What’s more, zembly makes it as easy to deploy and scale next-generation web applications as it is to build them. Suddenly, the web itself becomes programmable: the browser becomes your development environment, and you can leverage building blocks created by thousands of developers, worldwide.

What’s more, zembly makes it as easy to deploy and scale next-generation web applications as it is to build them. Suddenly, the web itself becomes programmable: the browser becomes your development environment, and you can leverage building blocks created by thousands of developers, worldwide.

With extensive contributions from zembly’s creators, Assemble the Social Web with zembly is the first and only official guide to zembly. This book brings together all the knowledge and code you’ll need to build applications for today’s leading Web 2.0 platforms: Facebook, Flickr, Google Maps, iPhone, and more.

The authors begin with a high-level tour of zembly that clearly explains its goals, capabilities, core concepts, and long-term direction. You’ll quickly walk through constructing your first zembly application; then, learn step-by-step how to use zembly with each of today’s most powerful and popular social web platforms.

Whether you’re a long-time web professional or a casual developer with a specialized problem to solve, zembly is the tool you’ve been waiting for. One book brings together everything you need to make the most of it: Assemble the Social Web with zembly.

  • Technique for editing centralized digitally encoded information

    Issued US 11/933,769

A technique is disclosed herein for editing centralized digitally encoded content using a stateless client on a client machine. A repository on a central server is accessed by a user. The repository has a plurality of compilation units stored therein. One or more compilation units selected by the user are provided to the user via a stateless client on a client machine. The client is in communication with the repository over a network. Information associated with the one or more selected…

  • Method, apparatus, and program product for creating and maintaining a data model

    Issued US 11/711,303

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products are disclosed that teach a method of generating a concrete-schema-instance as a result of modifying a representation of an abstract-instance-object-model. The concrete-schema-instance so generated represents an information-model used to process a concrete-information-instance.

  • Graphical representation of asynchronous web service execution

    Issued US 7,471,294

A method for visualizing web service interactions includes invoking a remote operation that causes a plurality of messages to be sent between two components in a connected system. The method further includes visually identifying a swim lane for each of the two components in a graphical display. For each message, a vector is plotted in the graphical display, where the vector extends from the swim lane of the message sender to the swim lane of the message recipient. The relative position of each…

For each message, a vector is plotted in the graphical display, where the vector extends from the swim lane of the message sender to the swim lane of the message recipient. The relative position of each vector depends on the time when the message was sent. A machine readable medium and an integrated development environment for representing asynchronous web service execution are also provided.

  • Mechanism for enabling distributed file sharing among a plurality of nodes in a network

    Issued US 7516132

A mechanism is disclosed for enabling a plurality of nodes on a network to collaboratively share a file. In one implementation, each node maintains its own copy of the file, and each node may make updates to its copy of the file. Whenever a node does update the contents of a region of the file, that node sends out an update message. The update message comprises the updated content for the region that has been updated. The update message is forwarded to each of the other nodes. When each of the…

Whenever a node does update the contents of a region of the file, that node sends out an update message. The update message comprises the updated content for the region that has been updated. The update message is forwarded to each of the other nodes. When each of the other nodes receives the update message, it updates its copy of the file with the updated content for the region. In this manner, the file is kept in sync on each of the nodes, and the user on each node is able to see changes made by users on the other nodes. Collaboration among the users is thus achieved.
