A great philosophical question was raised on our weekly cybersecurity call with Brian Scott...Let's say that one of your devices presented with a malware/ransomware threat that may or may not be contained…what is the best first step in response (besides notifying your MSSP)? Do you immediately shut down the affected devices(s) and the network to prevent spread and risk losing forensics on the attack, or do you leave the affected devices running so you can reverse engineer what the attack is doing, but risk a greater impact to the organization and the recovery? I am curious what my network would say...Juan Sanchez Adam Kuhn Kapil Kher , PMP, CEM Tom Bozzo, CAE, CIP Benjamin Spencer what say you?
