One Kings Lane's Mobile-Optimized Experience
When I began working on One Kings Lane's consumer-facing website, I immediately saw that we needed a different experience on small screens, as the site was very image-centric and wide, and it is simply hard to navigate on such a small device with such large and clumsy fingers.
After reporting this issue, getting buy-in from stakeholders, and receiving comps from the creative team and guidance from Product, I became the sole engineer for the mobile experience. I started fresh and lean, creating separate Rails views, CSS and JavaScript just for the small screen. Every bit of the mobile experience is designed with a mobile-first approach, allowing it to scale up to a desktop experience if needed (although this never came to fruition).Other creators -
