What Eyal Weizman is referring to here is the myth-making apparatus of Israel. The indoctrination system of stories, symbols, and rituals that craft the consciousness of a modern Israeli. A notable fantasy of Israel's myth is the slogan "a land without a people for a people without a land". Like all colonizers before them, Israel created a fantasy in which Palestine was uninhabited which meant that people like my father and grandparents invented their stories of dispossession and ethnic cleansing - as if they voluntarily left their 50 acres of orange groves in Jaffa to go live in tents in a refugee camp in Gaza. Israel's past founding myth of erasure and dispossession is also designed to rationalize and justify their depraved and genocidal behavior in the present - and where they are headed in the future: more erasure and more dispossession.

Daron Acemoglu’s Nobel Prize win for his work on inequality couldn’t be more relevant, especially given the conversations happening around AI, education, and economic progress. His book “Why Nations Fail” laid the groundwork, but his newer work on “Power and Progress” pushes the discussion further, particularly in the context of tech’s role in either alleviating or worsening inequality. Armenians for Kennedy - now on X at https://lnkd.in/gyQcyysk - are billing him as "a third option, a new chance, a better choice." To RFK Jr.'s credit, he has staked out pro-Armenian positions - including the safe return of Armenians to Artsakh. By way of comparison, his opponents - Joe Biden and Donald Trump - both armed genocidal Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing of Artsakh. I have yet to see/read a compelling case by supporters of either Biden or Trump that their policies align with our views on issues of special concern to us as Americans of Armenian heritage. Both have an awful lot to answer for - including active, intentional abetting of genocide. The most I've seen is something like: "the other guy is worse" - a weak lesser of two evils argument. To be sure, Armenians - like all voters - will bring a broad array of policy priorities (taxes, education, environment, immigration, etc.) into the voting booth, including concern for our at-risk homeland and heritage. What's your take?

✨ I was honored to speak at the United Nations Association of Central Pennsylvania event last night, where I had the opportunity to share the impactful work the Armenian government has been doing in collaboration with the UN. Here are some key highlights: 🗣️ Eliminating Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission Armenia's achievement in eliminating mother-to-child HIV transmission was recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and awarded by the UN Public Service Awards for innovation and excellence in delivering healthcare services in 2017. This milestone directly contributes to UN SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and is a remarkable example of collaborative efforts with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). I am happy to have been part of this work during my 7 years at the National Center for AIDS Prevention, Ministry of Health of Armenia. 🗣️ Integrated Social Services & Disability Assessment Platform Armenia’s Integrated System for Social Services, which I am currently working on, and the Disability Assessment Platform launched last year, are key initiatives designed to improve accessibility and efficiency in delivering social services. 📍The Disability Assessment Platform, in particular, aims to provide a more efficient, transparent, and accessible system for evaluating individuals with disabilities, ensuring they receive the necessary support and services. By digitalizing and automating the assessment process, it reduces bureaucratic delays and enhances the accuracy of assessments. 📍The social services reform in #Armenia is a vital part of the country’s broader strategy to reduce poverty and enhance transparency in the delivery of services. This reform aims to integrate and streamline various social assistance programs into a single, unified platform, making it easier for citizens, especially vulnerable groups, to access the support they need. By improving efficiency and transparency, the reform contributes to the goal of delivering services that are fair, inclusive, and accountable, ensuring that no one is left behind. Both platforms contribute significantly to several UN SDGs, including: SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. These projects are continuously supported by UN agencies in Armenia, ensuring that we can collectively reach these ambitious goals.
