📢 Press Conference Highlights: Standing Together for Los Angeles’ Economy Today, at the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, we hosted an impactful press conference with several business associations and community leaders who deeply care about the future of our city. The discussion centered on the proposed $38 minimum wage increase and its significant economic consequences for the City of Los Angeles. We highlighted key concerns, including: 🔹 Strain on small and immigrant-owned businesses 🔹 Potential decline in tourism and economic growth 🔹 Job losses and rising costs that will burden our communities This is a direct message to the Los Angeles City Council as they prepare to vote on this issue this Wednesday. We urge council members to vote wisely and consider the lasting economic impact of this decision. To support the hardworking, immigrant-owned businesses that are vital to our city’s diversity and prosperity, we ask for a thoughtful approach that carves out measures to ensure these businesses can continue to thrive. #Worklife: Good morning! Welcome to a new work week. ‘Let us realize that: the privilege to work is a gift, the power to work is a blessing, the love of work is success!’ David O. McKay, American Educator. I miss my career. When I was a kid I loved the idea of work. The thought of getting money for doing a thing greatly appealed to me. Then I got beyond lucky, finding the joy in a thing that would make it all play out in real time for the next several decades. Work is an opportunity. It is the way us regular folk get to build a life. Over the past several years, the movement away from jobs and the idea of work confused my narrow brain to no end. Not work? Quote on jobs over and over? Some people, I thought, were just not “getting it.” What kind of resume were they building? Although I continue to consult, speak, and write….the career I built over decades is a memory. A memory of opportunity, of friendships made, of customers served, with true joy throughout. Work, I believe is a gift. Finding “your thing” is the best gift possible. Search until you find the thing, the place, and the people that fit. Appreciate the sweat, the effort, the learning, the team. One day they will be memories. Work is joy. The money we earn, the reward for our toil. Appreciate the time as this is your time to grow. One grand benefit about work for young people: it helps them believe in themselves. It enables them to build confidence, meet & interact with smart people and develop dreams that never showed up in any classroom. Enjoy your day. You are the sculpture, the creator of what’s next.
