Going high or below for transportation is inevitable in #metropolitan regions. There are efficient systems that have been tested and used for decades. A #monorail system along Dallas North Tollway may be a solution to the urban expansion in north Dallas. I am not sure if a #gondola system would be an effective system for #mobility in a flat and sprawl urban area such as #DFW.

🚀 **Just Published!** 🚀 I’m excited to share my latest research paper titled **"Modeling Life Expectancy and Cost Effectiveness for UHPC Bridge Retrofitting Techniques"** published in the journal Advances in Bridge Engineering. In this paper, we explore how Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) can be a game-changer for bridge maintenance and rehabilitation. 🌉✨ A major contribution of this paper is the life expectancy model for UHPC concrete. This is a matter of the quandary because life expectancy for concrete structures has been quantified by evaluating the corrosion or predicting the bridge condition index. Austin City Council approved a nearly $23 million contract to build a new bridge across Lady Bird Lake near the Longhorn Dam. The now-approved construction contract is with Jay Reese Contractors, with a $20.7 million baseline amount along with an additional $2 million in contingencies. 8 years into Austin's South Central Waterfront District plans it's "Back to the Drawing Board" for infrastructure funding mechanism as Judge rules waterfront district not blighted enough to qualify for a TIRZ? A TIRZ is an economic development tool that captures the projected increase in tax revenue from development within a defined area and reinvests those funds into public improvements and development projects. Per the requirements the area is intended to be blighted and not expected to be redeveloped without this additional funding mechanism. Austin has experience with doing big complex developments; Domain, Mueller, 2nd Street District, but this plan has been hard to get moving. RiverSouth moved forward thru direct city negotiations years ago but everyone else has their plans revealed but need some certainty on how the upgraded infrastructure will be funded to move forward. Here is another argument for High-Speed Rail (HSR) in California (CA). According to this article, California leads the nation in the number of fatalities associated with trains. What does High-Speed Rail have to do with all of this? These fatalities were at at-grade crossings. California High-Speed Rail through the Central Valley would operate at 220 mph, and all at-grade crossings would be eliminated. High-Speed Rail Systems in Japan and France have been operating for decades without a passenger fatality.
