"How do you create robots that can supplement and extend families or care professionals or experts so that we scale and are able to meet this ever growing need?" Dr. Cynthia Breazeal asked that question in an extraordinary talk one year ago via The American Psychological Association (link below). When it comes to #socialrobots for #literacy learning and #mentalhealth we have a big conversation to have in #K12 about the emerging role #companionAI will play. What I appreciate about Dr. Breazeal's tour of what's already possible is how she underscores a robot being designed not as a teacher, but as a peer. For decades Dr. Breazeal's work has asked questions about what human social intelligence is, and how social robots can help us better understand and appreciate it in order to better connect with one another. For my fellow aspiring futurists learning inside our AAIE cohort with Paula G. 1. Who are "WE"? Who are we talking about? Who is the addressee of this reasoning? 2. An "organization" is a separate entity that does not come down to the people who work in it! 3. The organization does not live by moral laws. You can be a super moral person, but if you can't submit your tax report to the Ministry of Finance on time, you will be fired. On the contrary, if you are an absolutely immoral person, but you can solve the problem of the organization (which no one else solves so well) then you will be appreciated and fired last. 4. A good person is not a Profession! 5. The Organization has its own Objective Laws that determine the behavior of people in it. 6. To Caesar what is Caesar's to God what is God's 7. Do not confuse an Organization with a religious sect!

New research shows that despite 27% of the North American population having a disability, many people with disabilities (PWD) are unaware of others with disabilities at their workplace. The Return on Disability Group's survey of PWD employees reveals that only 45% of respondents knew of other PWD who discussed their disabilities at work. This leads to a lack of engagement, that not only leads to poor retention but also reduced productivity. Companies must prioritize engaging their employees with disabilities, especially at management levels, to retain top talent and maximize productivity.
