building ai products in this era of LLMs is insanely interesting. here are some thoughts and learnings from our work at Yalo and personal experiments: • ai is a very different paradigm from traditional software. it’s non-deterministic, meaning you don’t always get the same result twice. this shifts how we think about reliability, trust, and user experience. it’s both challenging and exciting. • it’s super valuable to develop “taste” for how models work. thinking of ai models as humans is surprisingly effective—concepts like fast (system 1) vs. slow (system 2) thinking help us design better interactions. • product managers need new skills: writing strong evals, prototyping with llms (even before designers open figma!), and digging deep into the tech stack are now table stakes. • focus on workflows, not magic: success isn’t just about deploying a model—it’s about orchestrating the right workflows and leveraging ai for what it’s truly good at. • solve real problems: great ai products start with a clear problem, not just cool tech. think deeply about user experience and design systems that go beyond being just a shiny demo. we’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible with ai. the opportunity to build applications that feel intelligent, empathetic, and proactive is massive. such an interesting time to be a builder!

Today, Meta shared results from our third quarter of 2024. Mark highlighted that it was another successful quarter for our community and business, with parts of our long-term vision around AI and the future of computing coming into sharper focus. Notably, over 3.2 billion people are using at least one of our apps daily and we’re seeing strong momentum with Meta AI, Llama adoption, and AI-powered glasses.   In his concluding remarks, Mark said: “This may be the most dynamic moment I've seen in our industry, and I'm focused on making sure that we build some awesome things and make the most of the opportunities ahead.”    We definitely see this dynamism in the Asia Pacific region - with our teams, our partners and clients who are building with us.   Here are the key highlights:   🚀 Meta AI is experiencing rapid adoption, with over 500 million monthly active users.   ⬆️ Over 1 million advertisers have utilized our GenAI creative tools, resulting in the creation of more than 15 million ads.   📞 Globally, more than 2 billion WhatsApp calls are made every day, with significant growth in countries like the United States.   🧵 The Threads community is expanding, with nearly 275 million monthly active users and 1 million new sign-ups daily.   📈 Our AI-driven feed and video recommendations have led to an 8% increase in time spent on Facebook and a 6% increase on Instagram this year.   👥This quarter also saw significant launches, including Teen Accounts, which offer built-in protections to limit who teens can message and what content they can view, and the introduction of our latest mixed reality headset, the Quest 3S.   I am so proud of our teams here in Asia Pacific and deeply grateful to our partners and clients across the region.    Take the story of Verish, a rapidly growing Korean life-wear brand, which used Meta's Moment Maker campaign to boost brand awareness and drive sales. From June 29 to August 6, 2024, they achieved a 9.0-point lift in ad recall and significant increases in brand conversation and user engagement. Their Target Frequency campaign further resulted in a 5.4-point lift in ad recall, a 3-point increase in action intent, and a 4% rise in conversions. With a reach of 4.7 and 4.3 million people respectively, these campaigns highlight Verish’s success with brand building on Meta.   We're thrilled to support your businesses and excited to accomplish even more together this festive season and beyond. ✨

At Meta, we've just shared results from our first quarter of 2024. As Mark Zuckerberg said, “It’s been a good start to the year.” Here are some of the highlights; 🌎 We continue to see strong engagement across our apps, and estimate that more than 3.2 billion people use at least one of our apps each day. 🚀 Our investments in AI continue to pay off for advertiser performance. Revenue flowing through our AI-powered tools, Advantage+ Shopping and Advantage+ App Campaigns, has more than doubled since last year. 🎞️ On Instagram, Reels alone now makes up about 50% of time spent within the app. 👍 About 30% of the posts on Facebook feed are delivered by our AI recommendation system. That's up 2x over the last two years! And for the first time ever, more than 50% of the content people see on Instagram is AI recommended. 🤖 The initial rollout of Meta AI is going well, and tens of millions of people have already tried it. Over the long term, we believe that eventually, every business on our platform will use a business AI to help customers buy things and get customer support. 🧵Threads continues to see good traction and now has more than 150 million monthly actives. These results were made possible by the strength of our partners, communities we serve and teams working at Meta. I’m incredibly optimistic and excited about the investments we’re making to continue powering growth for businesses across the world.
