Asbury vs. CDK Global over Tekion DMS: Legal Battle For Automotive Data 💥 Asbury says CDK is holding its data hostage?! Asbury CDK locked in a legal fight over data control ahead of Tekion pilot. Asbury Automotive Group Inc. is suing its dealership management system provider CDK Global and seeking an injunction compelling the release of 4 dealerships' data for Asbury pilot. 👀 Now drawing a countersuit in opposition to the injunction from CDK! 'CDK's intent has become quite clear that it intends to squash its competitor Tekion and force Asbury to stay on CDK's platform by holding (Asbury's) data hostage,' says Asbury. But CDK accused Asbury of using software to improperly collect the group's information stored with the DMS provider and declare that data access for Asbury as a regular renewing CDK customer was contractually limited to the data... utilities... after more than 13 years with CDK. ⚡ 13 years?! Asbury had planned to test Tekion Corp's DMS at 4 locations, but CDK's refusal to hand over Asbury's data has thrown a wrench into those plans. The September edition of the Automotive Insight Report (AIR) with AutoGrab shows modest a 1% uptick in used car sales to 209,102, while used car listings rose by 5.2% to 314,672, continuing the trend of month-on-month increases in listings since May. The average days to sell has increased to 46.4, the highest it has been since January, suggesting that buyers are finding it difficult to sell vehicles amid the growing oversupply. CDK Global's catastrophic failure to secure its systems led to a devastating #cyberattack, crippling dealerships nationwide. Their #software, vital for daily operations, went dark, forcing dealers back to pen and paper. CDK's incompetence has disrupted giants like AutoNation and Sonic Automotive.
