If you want to enter the film industry and get your first opportunity; 1. Get the trust of a contact who is influential to get you a sitting with the producers. The contact can be a production manager/executive producer/costume designer etc. This trust doesn't come in a short time. Because already a lot of them would ruin the reference name by spoiling the meeting. Your talent can raise the eyebrows of your contact. To convert the eyebrows into a productive sitting needs a long-term bond with the influencer. This creates trust with the first layer of contact with the producer. 2. You are on friendly terms with an entrant like you. That person gets an opportunity to tell a story to a producer because of his influential contact. For that person to recommend you need trust. Getting a high-level contact is very difficult for the first opportunity. To recommend you, they need to know you personally. Your talent and work come later. This is the second layer of contact with the producer. Where you are connected with your friend and your friend is an influential person to create a meeting with the producer. 3. Few of your industry friends can contribute money and create your own opportunity like Crowdfunding. For this, your friends should have trust in you and your outcome. Because this is hard earned money of each and every one. This also doesn't come in a short time. 4. Take couple of the scenes from your movie on your own and post it in Crowdfunding websites to seek money. For those unknown people to invest in your project need trust in you. There have been stories where people contributed small money to make a movie but that impact is very less. 5. Leverage the Film festival as an opportunity to meet producers and show your work. If they trust you, you will get further level of appointments to finalize your opportunity. Again the deal will not happen in the first sitting. You may have to travel with the producer for some time to earn his/her trust. Points to Ponder:- What we have to understand here is that no film producers would post job opening for Film Directors. When they invest huge amounts of money, they will not decide in a single sitting. Trust and Long-time travel are a vital key. Hence nothing is going to happen in a short time. Last but not the least. Till you become successful, you need an influential person who trust you.

If you’re a filmmaker and you use generative AI to make posters, pitch decks, trailers, etc. then I can’t take you seriously. Because what you’re saying is you’d rather use a tool that steals from artists rather than collaborate with actual artists. And I get it. Generative AI…it’s fast, cheap, and easy to use. So are prostitutes. Doesn’t mean you should using them either.

Set Boundaries: Establish clear boundaries between work and personal life. Designate specific times for work-related tasks and stick to them. Avoid checking work emails or even taking work calls during personal time, and vice versa. By creating these boundaries, you can protect your personal time and reduce the risk of burnout. 2. Prioritize Self-Care: Make self-care a priority in your routine. Schedule time for activities that help you relax and recharge, such as exercise, hobbies, meditation/prayer, journaling, or spending time with loved ones. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is essential for maintaining balance and preventing stress and fatigue. 3. Delegate and Collaborate: Don't be afraid to delegate tasks or collaborate with others to lighten your workload. As we anticipate the release and adoption of Silhouette 2024.5, it’s clear that advances in technology will likely lead to fewer roto jobs, thanks to faster outputs and reduced digital labor requirements. However, to address unemployment and create more opportunities within the roto department, we must either increase the volume of work or innovate our cinematic experiences. If we continue with the same workload as 2021, technological advancements will allow us to achieve the same results with less effort. To truly boost job creation and support those currently unemployed, we need to rethink how we approach work in this field. Great idea, why don’t you do the same with Van Gogh paintings, or with Picasso… wait a minute, you can do it with Peppa Pig too! 😜 I love new technologies, don’t get me wrong, and I understand there is a blurry line that separates AI generative imagining and artwork… but quite frankly this is way off the art side of the line… and furthermore the intent here is plainly disrespectful. Remember this, the world was upset with George Lucas for “fixing” his very own creation, Star Wars, that he wanted to make better and he added more VFX in the late 90s… and everyone was outraged and it had nothing to do with the quality of the effects or the photorealism. Aesthetics are not meant to “corrected”, a true artist knows that. Don’t fix another artist’s work, you are just fooling yourself by thinking it needs to be “fixed”, instead use this great talent you regard you have to create something… even a short film, or a shot, or a single frame. I’ve seen more talent in a single stroke on a nursery school than in this so called “AI fix”. Thank you to all the true artists and technicians that wakeup early to go to work hard and make our industry great, the original Polar Express is an example of that. We work on the shoulders of giants. True (and Professional) Artist 101: respect other artists work, if you are not able to respect an artist, you won’t be able to respect our craft, and an artist that doesn’t respect their craft simply isn’t an artist. Please, next time fix yourself.

I've spent some time getting to grips with #Midjourney (image generation) and #LumaDreamMachine (a transformer model that creates video from image/text generation) and put together this short edit of what 1950's Paris might've looked like according to AI. There's been so much talk of "AI taking our jobs" over the past couple of years but now that I've spent some time learning how to use it, to me it's simply becoming another tool that we can harness to produce results. Editing in the future will probably involve a lot more focus around prompting image/video generation, similar to coding in a way. That being said, learning how to effectively prompt to get the results I wanted was very frustrating which is why everyone in this video ended up wearing sunglasses. It was a Parisian looking solution to a crazy AI faces and eyes problem. What are your thoughts about AI sites like Midjourney/Luma? Is it worth the hype or are you not really phased by it?
