Cembell, a Louisiana manufacturing and fabrication company, is one of the newest victims of the Qilin ransomware group. Qilin mainly targets critical sector companies but deviates to find small businesses that are sector adjacent to utilize them as a foothold into critical sector organizations. Qilin posted news of the breach on its dark web leak site. As part of the proof of compromise, Qilin posted images of what appeared to be a file directory and two spreadsheets. Qilin has an affiliate model that offers Ransomware as a Service (RaaS), and it recruits affiliates to assist in infecting its victims for a share of the ransoms collected. A call to Cembell confirmed they are open, operational, and have taken the measures necessary to evict the threat actors from their systems. They are working through the recovery process with the assistance of a security response team. #CyberSecurity #Breach #Louisiana

Had this exact conversation today at a Dell Technologies Partner Advisory Board meeting in Austin. Looking at the most successful companies in the world, a mind-blowing 52% of the Fortune 500 from 20 years ago no longer exists. Looking forward, half of today’s largest companies won’t exist in 2044. Now look at the broader picture. The tech industry has been the fastest growing, most successful industry over the past decade (think of cloud, mobility, cybersecurity, and now Gen AI) and 71% of businesses have failed in those 10 years. We are currently going through changing buyer demographics, firmographics, platform economics, and a generational turn in technology all at once. Easy to see why so many companies will miss these trends and the fatal blow it will become. For fun, go check out the valuations of NVIDIA, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Google, and other trillion-dollar firms back in 2013. Oh, and forget business for a second. Where are your retirement funds invested right now? Does your financial advisor (or you) understand platform economics thoroughly enough?

What is the biggest difference between MSP’s that grow and MSP’s that plateau? NETWORKING MSP owners that do not expand their networks will only sell to their friends, neighbors, and family. Few of these MSP’s will reach $1M ARR Even fewer will reach $2M They will not invest in education for themselves or their teams They will not learn or implement industry best practices which will make them competitive in their markets They will not recruit, hire, or develop the right people for their team If you want to be a successful and growing company, you need to meet and learn from other owners that have grown their businesses over over $5M Unless your business operates in a NFL city, you’ll need to travel to industry conferences or join a peer group Your local Chamber of Commerce or BNI group is not going to get you there LETS GROW! #managedservices IT BY DESIGN
