Do you really know your ICP? Most companies think they do—but their metrics tell a different story. Ironically, the same disconnect often plagues their foundational marketing operations. They assure us their ICP is "figured out," yet their sales, positioning, and messaging tell another story. This disconnect stems from a misunderstanding of what ICP truly means, how to define it effectively, and how to align your positioning around it. So, here are the key questions you need to ask yourself: 1️⃣ Who am I solving a problem for with my product/service? 2️⃣ How is my product truly different for them? 3️⃣ Where can I find them? 4️⃣ Do I understand them on a deeper, emotional level? Once you’ve answered these, focus is everything. Avoid defining five ICPs with different pains and solutions—it’s a trap. Pick one, build your product around it, and align the rest of your marketing efforts around that one story you want to tell.
