We are proud of the momentum on the $2 billion 11-project “Restoring the George” repair and rehabilitation program to renew the world’s busiest vehicular bridge. The project to replace every one of the George Washington Bridge’s original steel suspender ropes is more than 95 percent complete, with just two dozen of the 592 ropes left to be replaced. This achievement brings us closer to reopening fully accessible pedestrian and cyclist pathways in 2026, with dedicated lanes and new viewpoints designed to enhance safety and accessibility. “Our $2 billion Restoring the George program to overhaul the George Washington Bridge is essential to its future and continued ability to connect the region,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “For the first time since this 93-year-old bridge was built, we are replacing or upgrading its original major components with modern technology and best-in-class materials. This past Sunday was #AmericanBusinessWomensDay! In addition to being a women-owned contractor, NTD is proud to have an office team of nearly half women. The future continues to look promising for women in construction. According to American Express, the number of women-owned construction firms increased by 68% from 2014 to 2019, and today, 13% of construction firms are women-owned, an increase of 96% over the last 15 years (NSSI, The Balance). This upward trend is a promising sign for the future of our industry. After all, NSSI reports that 44 of the top 100 construction firms have women in management positions.

"Precision, precision, precision! Workers are lining up a pier cap form to set it in place onto a pier stem on the northbound bridge MF 406-407 of the MonFayette Expressway. This is pier one of the first of three bridges to be built on section 53A2! Through the end of the year, passersby will see team members continuing to build the four piers and two abutments for bridge MF 406-407. Trumbull will also begin construction on a second bridge and continue excavation of material for the new roadway. #HeavyHighwayConstruction #BridgeConstruction #RoadwayConstruction"

Just because a portion of your sws deck is at a much higher elevation from the rest, doesn't mean it can be without a parapet. BC3307.6.4.6 requires a parapet on all open sides of a sws deck
