At J.D. Power / ZappyRide we do a lot to calculate TCOs for commercial vehicle fleets evaluating whether they should switch to EVs. The tools we provide enable fleet operators to quickly understand the savings - both in terms of money and emissions - that may result from such a switch. Great data out of the team at GEOTAB showing that many trucks drive well within the estimated range for EVs that are on the market today. 🚛 💡 🔋 The report utilized telematics data from approximately 500,000 class 3-8 trucks, operating within Canada and the U.S., from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023. 📊 💻 🗓 ➡ 81% of medium-duty trucks drove less than 150 miles per day on average ➡ 43% of medium duty trucks never exceeded 200 miles – even on their longest driving day ➡ 58% of heavy-duty trucks drove less than 200 miles per day on average ➡ 53% never exceeded 400 miles, even on their longest driving day The report also took an in-depth look at the charging behaviors of over 5,200 fleet-operated EVs across North America from June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023. 🛣 ⛽ 🕰 ➡ 65% of North American charge sessions happen before the battery drops to half.
