MEDITECH's COO not so shyly taking aim at Epic with the verbiage in the repost here: - Starts by referencing how their choice is in contrast to others (perhaps referencing Health Grid) - Has the "care everywhere" line, which is the name of the Epic interoperability module - Implicates that another vendor wants all healthcare organizations to purchase their software to be interoperable While I appreciate the spirit and MEDITECH's new focus on network effects via advanced interoperability, I'd probably be more explicit. Epic participates in Carequality more robustly than any other EHR today based on data contributed and has the most concrete TEFCA plans of any EHR vendor. So instead of coded "we're going to do better" language, MEDITECH should go a step further to: - Explain exact TEFCA transition plan and timeline - Hype their TEFCA IAS implementation. If patients deserve their record, let's make that newsworthy like Epic did in July - Talk about Interoperability features that MEDITECH is planning beyond the floor of Carequality and TEFCA treatment

Imagine of these CMS rules existed in a Github repository as usable code written in: pandas Polars Spark SQL SAS Using standard schema or some unifying mechanism like Ibis (https://ibis-project.org/). Upkeep might be high for CMS to keep a developer team (I do have some confidence they are trying to achieve this, given their new github presence), but imagine the collaborative feedback and discussion, more unified data schema and pipelines across payers willing to "adopt" the rules engine.

I've worked for many clients who used only a fraction of their EMRs capabilities often because they were not aware of them and didn't know the right questions to ask to pull that knowledge from the EMRs customer success teams. having a trusted partner that understands your processes and can help align clinical and back office operations with data, reporting and increasing AI applications is critical to leverage such toolsets properly. Leaders should not consider these tools plug and play. maybe one day...

Years ago, CMS forced health systems and ambulatory providers to ONC-Certified EHR technology through Meaningful Use (but also paid for it). Post-Acute and Behavioral Health Providers were not included in this. Today, through payment models being released into the industries (such as GUIDE), CMS is forcing the adoption of Certified EHR technology by requiring it for these models. This is so that organizations can share information and collaborate on patient care in payment models that reward them for doing so. This trend continues for home health with Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM), which provides a new model of care for home health organizations to participate in for 5 of the most expensive surgical procedures that require post-acute care (launches in 2026). From a technology standpoint, an EHR's Certification is only the first step. There are clinical scales, tools, and content to be licensed plus built. Changes to billing functionality. Reporting on measures to create workflows and analytics around the capture on numerators and denominators. Make sure any vendor partners you work with has actually prepared for these things, on top of certification, in the models of care you're pursuing. GUIDE has a profound impact for hospice/palliative care providers by allowing them to be properly reimbursed for taking care of some of nation's most elderly and vulnerable populations.
