Manuscript submission opens on 1st June and will remain open until 31st January, 2025. We have just published a journal paper that explores how higher order field harmonics in the airgap of bearingless motors can be modeled and controlled to enhance bearingless motor force capacity by upwards of 40%. We demonstrate these findings on a 10 phase bearingless induction motor. Wrapping up my previous research work with a paper on: "Grain boundary complexion modification for interface stability in garnet based solid-state Li batteries" The garnet type solid-state electrolyte (SSE) encounters challenges related to poor interfacial contact with Li metal and dendrite penetration problem. This study addresses these issues by manipulating the surface property of garnet-based LLZTO (Li6.5La3Zr1.6Ta0.4O12) SSE. The manipulation is achieved by varying thickness of Al2O3 atomic layer deposition (ALD), followed by sintering. Research results show that the relative density, ionic conductivity, and hardness of LLZTO are improved while electronic conductivity is reduced due to the formation of multiple complexions at grain boundary (GB). The SSE pellets also demonstrate improved wettability with Li metal, leading to stable galvanostatic Li plating/stripping cycling with low polarization, which allows for batter battery performance than pristine one. The concept of modifying SSE through the grain boundary complexion modification by thin ALD coating for enhancing the dendrite tolerance with better electrochemical properties of SSE may open a new direction for solid state battery research.   Highlights ·        Grain boundary complexion modification by thin ALD Al2O3 coating. ·        Improved mechanical properties and ionic conductivities of the LLZTO pellet. ·        Improved Li wettability and dendrite tolerance for enhanced performances.   This work is now available online: https://lnkd.in/eZcpwAy3   #batteries #solidstatebatteries #energystorage #electrochemistry #ceramics

Na-metal (anode) batteries can simultaneously offer exceptional energy density and economic benefits due to the utilization of the abundant Na element. However, problematic surface side reactions, including dendrite formation and thick SEI layer formation, should be solved to realize Na battery technology. Our electrolyte additive, using the polarizable vinylpyrrolidone (VP) molecular dipole, could be a potential solution to enable ultra-long and rapid operating Na-metal batteries. Title: Ultra‐Long and Rapid Operating Sodium Metal Batteries Enabled by Multifunctional Polarizable Interface Stabilizer <Abstract> Abundant and economical sodium (Na) metal batteries promise superior energy densities compared to lithium-ion batteries; however, they face commercialization challenges owing to problematic interfacial reactions leading to dendrite formation during cycling. This paper reports the ultra-long and rapid operation of Na metal batteries enabled by the introduction of a vinylpyrrolidone (VP)-based multifunctional interface stabilizer in the electrolyte. The VP electrolyte additive provides benefits such as surface flattening, durable solid electrolyte interphase layer formation, preservation of fresh Na, and acceleration of horizontal crystal growth along the (110) plane. Symmetric Na–Na cells with the stabilizer exhibit notably stable operation for over 5,000 cycles at a high current density of 5 mA cm−2, surpassing previous research. Performance improvement is also demonstrated in a full-cell configuration with a Na3V2(PO4)2O2F cathode. In our recent publication in the SAE International Journal of Engines, a novel approach combining a machine learning algorithm with 3D CFD combustion predictions was proposed. NOx-PM trade-off is unavoidable in conventional diesel combustion. To minimize this trade-off, a novel approach is proposed wherein a reinforcement learning algorithm interacts with the combustion data predicted by ANSYS FORTE of a small-bore diesel engine to suggest optimal injection timings for multiple injection strategies. With the proposed approach, NOx and PM emissions were significantly reduced. You may find the article interesting!

The research reveals the following key findings: (1) Corporate smart product platform usage and innovation input significantly and positively drive green technology innovation. (2) Innovation input acts as a complete mediator in the relationship between smart product platform usage and green technology innovation. (3) Corporate intelligentization level positively moderates the relationship between smart product platform usage and innovation input. (4) Considering regional and ownership attribute disparities, the impact of smart product platform usage on green technology innovation is asymmetric. ....
