About

As a machine learning and AI researcher, I have a strong passion for education and making AI & deep learning more accessible. That's why I joined Lightning AI as Lead AI Educator in January 2022, where I develop materials and courses to teach people how to utilize AI & deep learning at scale.

After obtaining my PhD in Statistics from Michigan State University, I joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison an Assistant Professor of Statistics (I went on leave in 2022 to focus on the startup experience). My research focuses on deep learning and machine learning methods development, with applications in biomedicine and biology. I have published multiple papers in prestigious journals and conferences, and received awards such as the ACM Computing Reviews’ Best of 2016 and the Best Paper Award at ICB 2018.

Additionally, I am a passionate contributor to open-source software and a bestselling author of books on AI, machine learning, PyTorch, and Python programming. I love coding, writing, and sharing my knowledge and insights with the AI community.
